We’re Hiring!

Job Title: Operations Associate
Location: Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid)
Reports to: Executive Director
Start Date: February 2026

About the Center for New Jewish Culture:

We’re building a culture-focused community center that nourishes the mind, body, and soul in the former Union Temple Synagogue at 17 Eastern Parkway. This historical site, designed as a central hub for Jewish life in Brooklyn in the 1920s, spans over 75,000 square feet and includes a gym, swimming pool, school, ballroom, and theater space, offering a unique blend of history and future opportunity. We aim to renovate and transform it into a Jewish cultural center for the 21st century.

About the Role:
We are looking for an energetic, reliable, and hands-on individual for the role of Operations Associate to support the day-to-day operations of a vibrant and innovative grassroots organization based in Brooklyn. This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who is eager to learn and gain valuable experience across several disciplines. The successful candidate will be highly organized and enthusiastic about contributing to the renaissance of Jewish culture in Brooklyn.

This position is perfect for someone who thrives on variety—no two days will be exactly the same. This role offers exposure to all aspects of running a startup nonprofit, from program execution to fundraising, operations, and community building. As the second full-time hire, you’ll have a front-row seat to the organization’s growth and the chance to shape your role over time as you discover which areas of nonprofit work excite you most.

The Operations Associate will report to the Executive Director and will work closely with the Center’s Founder & Creative Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Support: Participate in weekly check-ins with fundraising consultants; check-in with solicitors on solicitation progress; provide solicitors with any necessary solicitation materials; follow-up with solicitors after meetings to collect notes, next steps and pledges; managed solicitor dashboards.

  • Data Management: Maintain the CRM (e.g., program participation, community contacts, donor management); responsible for data entry; support the creation of reports and summaries and track progress towards goals.

  • Program Support: Assist in the logistics and on-the-ground execution of programs and events; liaise with staff, vendors, and participants to make sure things run without a hitch.

  • Scheduling & Calendar Management: Work with Executive Director to coordinate meetings, events, and program schedules; manage internal calendars and reminders.

  • Communications & Social Media: Responsible for sending email blasts and social media posts, managing the communications calendar and tracking and reporting the analytics.

  • Community Interface: Serve as a friendly and reliable point of contact for partners, community members, and vendors.

  • Special Projects: Jump into a wide range of tasks as they come up—including research or logistics—whatever is needed to move the mission forward.

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of work experience, internships, or volunteer experience in operations, administration, program coordination, or related fields.

  • Familiarity with Brooklyn neighborhoods and communities is a plus.

  • Comfortable with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar); experience with CRM or project management tools is a plus.

  • Availability to work occasional evenings/weekends for events or programs.

Who You Are:

  • A quick study – eager to learn new tools, processes, and tasks with minimal hand-holding.

  • A do-er – you like rolling up your sleeves and getting things done, even when the path isn’t perfectly laid out.

  • A strong communicator – whether over email, phone, or in person, you’re clear, respectful, and responsive.

  • A flexible team player – you’re comfortable shifting gears and willing to pitch in wherever needed.

  • Detail-oriented and organized, but not thrown off by a little chaos.

  • A Brooklyn-savvy problem solver – you know your way around the borough and can help navigate local relationships, spaces, and systems.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $50,000-$60,000/year, commensurate with experience.

  • Benefits: Health insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
